A distillation tower is a device that utilizes the principle of different boiling points of different components to obtain different components by heating the mixture and then condensing it. A distillation tower is different from a simple boiling still in that it separates at the same pressure and at different temperatures. Its working principle is based on the boiling points of different components in the mixture, which can be divided into two methods: direct distillation at atmospheric pressure and vacuum distillation:
1. Direct distillation: The mixture is heated above its boiling point, enters the tower from the top of the distillation tower, passes through the packing layer, and is cooled into a liquid in the condenser, flowing out from the bottom of the tower.
2. Vacuum distillation: By reducing the internal pressure, the mixture is kept below its boiling point at atmospheric pressure. After heating, it passes through the packing layer and evaporates and condenses to obtain the components.
Distillation tower is an important equipment in refining technology. Its working principle is to decompose the mixture through temperature differences, purify various components separately, and finally collect the discharged substances to obtain higher purity substances. It can be used to separate complex mixtures such as petroleum, mineral oil, natural gas, and organic solvents, and is widely used in various fields such as food, chemical, petroleum, metallurgy, and building materials.
