Product Description

2Product Overview: Advanced Tubular Heat Exchanger for Demanding Industrial Applications

Our high-performance Tubular Heat Exchanger represents the pinnacle of thermal transfer technology, engineered for reliability, efficiency, and longevity in the most demanding industrial environments. Unlike standard shell and tube designs, our advanced tubular exchanger features a robust construction that excels in handling high pressures, high temperatures, viscous fluids, and fluids with suspended particulates. It is the ideal solution for a wide range of applications, from chemical processing and power generation to oil & gas production and waste heat recovery.

Built with a commitment to operational excellence, this heat exchanger is designed to maximize heat transfer coefficients while minimizing fouling and pressure drop, ensuring optimal process efficiency and reduced total cost of ownership.

Multi-Effect Forced Circulation Vacuum Concentration Evaporator Heat Exchanger

The Multi-Effect Forced Circulation Vacuum Concentration Evaporator Heat Exchanger represents a state-of-the-art thermal separation solution engineered for high-efficiency concentration of heat-sensitive, viscous, fouling-prone, or crystalline process liquids. This integrated system combines the principles of multi-effect evaporation, forced circulation hydrodynamics, and vacuum-induced low-temperature boiling to deliver exceptional concentration performance while minimizing energy consumption and thermal degradation of the product.

At the heart of the system lies the forced circulation heat exchanger, typically designed as a vertical shell-and-tube or falling-film configuration, where process fluid is circulated at high velocity using a dedicated circulation pump. This high-velocity flow generates turbulent conditions (Reynolds number > 10,000) inside the tubes, significantly enhancing the heat transfer coefficient and suppressing the formation of scale or fouling layers on heat transfer surfaces. Unlike natural circulation evaporators, forced circulation ensures stable operation even with highly viscous, salting, or scaling media, as the elevated fluid velocity continuously sweeps the tube walls clean.

The multi-effect design incorporates two or more evaporator stages (effects) connected in series, where the vapor generated in the first effect serves as the heating medium for the subsequent effect. This cascaded vapor recompression strategy dramatically improves thermal economy, achieving a typical steam economy ratio of 0.4 to 0.8 kg of steam consumed per kg of water evaporated per effect. For a triple-effect configuration, the overall steam consumption can be reduced by up to 65-70% compared to a single-effect evaporator. Each effect operates at progressively lower pressures, enabled by a vacuum system (steam jet ejector or mechanical vacuum pump) that maintains the final effect under deep vacuum. Consequently, the boiling point of the process liquid is substantially reduced-often to 50-80 °C-which is critical for concentrating heat-labile substances such as fruit juices, pharmaceutical extracts, dairy products, enzymes, and organic intermediates without compromising flavor, color, or bioactivity.

The forced circulation loop further decouples the heat transfer function from the separation function. The heated liquid is discharged tangentially into a flash separation vessel (vapor-liquid separator) operating under vacuum. Upon entering the separator, the superheated liquid flashes into vapor and concentrated liquor. The low headspace velocity in the separator (typically below 1 m/s) allows efficient disengagement of entrained droplets, which are returned to the circulation loop or discharged as final concentrate. This design prevents carryover of valuable product and ensures clean secondary vapor for subsequent effects or condensation.

Key technical features include:

  1. Enhanced Heat Transfer: High-velocity forced circulation yields overall heat transfer coefficients (U-values) ranging from 800 to 1500 W/m²·K, depending on fluid properties and operating conditions.

  2. Anti-Fouling and Anti-Scaling: Tube-side velocities of 1.5-3.0 m/s effectively inhibit the deposition of calcium salts, organic residues, or crystal precipitates, extending run times between cleaning cycles.

  3. Low Residence Time: The high circulation rate relative to feed rate results in a narrow residence time distribution and minimal thermal exposure per pass, preserving product quality.

  4. Flexible Operation: The system can handle feed solids from 5% to over 50% total solids, with viscosity up to several thousand centipoise, and can be equipped with automatic density/level control for continuous or batch concentration.

  5. Modular Construction: Available in 2, 3, or 4 effects, with options for falling-film, rising-film, or submerged-tube heat exchanger configurations. Materials of construction include stainless steel 304/316L, duplex, titanium, or hastelloy, selected based on corrosion resistance and food/pharmaceutical compliance.

Typical applications span diverse industries:

  • Chemical & Petrochemical: Concentration of caustic soda, ammonium sulfate, sodium chloride solutions, and spent acid recovery.

  • Food & Beverage: Tomato paste, fruit juice concentrates, malt extract, and sugar syrups.

  • Pharmaceutical & Biotechnology: Herbal extraction concentrates, antibiotic mother liquors, and vaccine processing.

  • Wastewater Treatment: Zero-liquid discharge (ZLD) systems, brine concentration, and industrial effluent volume reduction.

  • Fine Chemicals & Agrochemicals: Dye intermediates, pesticide formulations, and high-purity solvent recovery.

The Multi-Effect Forced Circulation Vacuum Concentration Evaporator Heat Exchanger is delivered as a complete skid-mounted system, including heat exchanger bodies, separators, circulation pumps, condensers, vacuum system, interconnecting piping, and a fully automated control panel with PLC/HMI for monitoring temperatures, pressures, flow rates, and liquid levels. Optional accessories include online density meters, CIP (clean-in-place) spray balls, and vapor thermocompression (TVR) for further steam savings.

By combining thermodynamic efficiency, mechanical robustness, and gentle product handling, this evaporator system offers a reliable and cost-effective solution for challenging concentration duties where conventional evaporators fail due to scaling, viscosity, or thermal sensitivity. It delivers high-quality concentrate with minimal fouling downtime, reduced energy footprint, and extended equipment life, making it an indispensable unit for modern process industries seeking both productivity and sustainability.
