As an efficient evaporator, falling film evaporator is gradually suitable for liquid concentration in the chemical, light industry, and food processing industries due to its unique advantages.
Working principle: The difference between a falling film evaporator and a rising film evaporator is that the raw material liquid is added from the top of the heating tube. The solution flows down the inner wall of the tube in a film like manner under its own gravity, and is evaporated and concentrated. The vapor liquid mixture enters the separation chamber from the bottom of the heating tube, and after gas-liquid separation, the liquid is discharged from the bottom of the separator. To ensure uniform film formation of the solution on the wall, a liquid film distributor needs to be installed at the top of each heating tube. There are various types of film distributors, with three commonly used ones. A cylindrical body with a spiral groove is used as a guide tube, and the liquid rotates along the groove to flow down and distribute on the entire inner wall of the tube; The lower part of the guide tube is a cone, with the bottom of the cone facing inward to prevent the liquid flowing down the inclined plane of the cone from gathering towards the center again; The liquid descends in a film like manner along the inner wall of the heating tube through the gaps between the teeth.
Performance characteristics: The falling film evaporator can evaporate solutions with high concentration, and is also suitable for materials with high viscosity. But it is not suitable for solutions that are prone to crystallization or scaling. In addition, due to the uneven distribution of the liquid film inside the tube, its heat transfer coefficient is smaller compared to the rising film evaporator.
Advantages of falling film evaporator:
1. Short residence time and no degradation of heat sensitive materials.
2. Due to its thin coating shape and high liquid flow rate, the evaporation heat transfer coefficient is correspondingly high.
3. The pressure drop is small, so the pressure on the process side of the heat exchanger is close to a constant, and sensible heat can be avoided or minimized.
4. Due to the fact that the process fluid only flows under the action of gravity, rather than being driven by resistance, a more economical low resistance is allowed.
5. There is little stagnant liquid in the equipment.
6. Boiling is convective boiling, so the surface state of the tube has a relatively small impact on boiling.
