Four stages of separation
Primary separation section: At the inlet of the gas flow, after the gas flow enters the cylinder, due to the sudden decrease in gas flow velocity, the liquid or large droplets in strands are separated by gravity and directly settle in the liquid accumulation section. In order to improve the effectiveness of primary separation, inlet water baffles or tangent inlet methods are often added at the gas-liquid inlet.
Secondary separation section: sedimentation section, where the airflow after primary separation carries smaller droplets towards the airflow outlet and flows upward at a lower flow rate. At this point, due to the action of gravity, the droplets settle downwards and separate from the airflow.
Demisting section: mainly set in front of the gas outlet to capture small droplets (10-100um) that cannot be separated from the settling section. Small droplets collide and condense here, eventually combining to form larger droplets and sinking into the liquid accumulation section.
Liquid accumulation section: mainly collects liquid. Generally, the liquid accumulation section should also have sufficient volume to ensure that the gas dissolved in the liquid can detach from the liquid and enter the gas phase. The liquid discharge control system of the separator is also the main content of the liquid accumulation section. In order to prevent gas vortices during liquid discharge, in addition to retaining a section of liquid seal, baffle type vortex breaking devices are often installed above the discharge port.
