Floating head heat exchangers are classified as a type of shell and tube heat exchangers in terms of structure. Currently, the floating head end structure of floating head heat exchangers in the market mainly consists of cylinders, outer head cover side flanges, floating head tube plates, hook rings, floating head covers, outer head covers and wire holes, steel rings, etc. Compared with traditional fixed tube sheet heat exchangers, one section of the tube sheet of the floating head heat exchanger is fixed to the shell through a flange, and the other end of the tube sheet can freely float and expand within the shell, which is called the floating head. The design of the floating head end adopts a detachable structure, so the tube plate can be easily inserted into the tube shell. This structure creates the biggest advantage of the floating head heat exchanger - easy installation and operation, convenient maintenance and cleaning. In addition, different styles can be made according to the needs of users, greatly reducing their operating costs.
In addition to this advantage, the temperature difference between the floating head exchanger and the medium is not limited. The main reason is that the tube sheet can freely float inside the shell, and can expand and contract freely during heating or cooling. Therefore, when the temperature difference between the two sides of the medium is large, there will be no temperature difference stress between the tube bundle and the shell. Simply put, the floating head heat exchanger can work normally under conditions of large temperature differences.
