The intermediate tank is a continuous casting/rolling equipment used to receive molten steel from the steel drum and distribute it to each flow of crystallizer. It has the functions of voltage stabilization, storage, and intermediate tank metallurgy at the same time. Intermediate tank metallurgy refers to the process of improving and controlling the quality of molten steel in a continuous cast steel intermediate tank. It is a crucial link in the production process from the melting and refining of steel to the production of continuous casting billets, ensuring the acquisition of high-quality steel billets.
The intermediate tank plays a crucial role in chemical machinery and equipment.
(1) Stabilize voltage. Reduce the static pressure of molten steel and maintain a stable liquid level.
(2) Storage. When replacing steel ladles in multiple furnaces, a certain amount of molten steel is maintained in the middle tank to ensure uninterrupted steel flow.
(3) Diversion. In multi stream continuous casting | steel rolling mill, the molten steel is distributed into the crystallizers of each stream.
(4) Metallurgical processes. Including purification function, refining function, insulation and temperature control function. The purification function allows impurities to further float in the intermediate tank, so the molten steel in the intermediate tank needs to have sufficient depth to ensure a certain residence time. At the same time, adding slag barriers, weirs, etc. in the middle tank can eliminate the dead zone at the bottom of the middle tank, improve the flow trajectory of molten steel, shorten the distance for inclusions to float up, reduce turbulence, and facilitate the floating of inclusions.
The steel can be refined by adding synthetic slag and feeding wire in the intermediate tank steel water. The intermediate tank is covered with insulation, and if necessary, induction heating, plasma heating, etc. can be used to adjust the temperature of the molten steel to ensure that it is poured at a constant temperature and low superheat.
