Structure Design
Material: Q345R, Q345DR, 16MnR and other steel materials are usually used, which have good strength, toughness and corrosion resistance, and can withstand the pressure and chemical properties of liquid ammonia.
Appearance: Generally a horizontal structure consisting of a cylinder, head, flange, support, interface pipe, and manhole. This structure is conducive to the storage and flow of liquids, as well as easy installation and maintenance.
Internal structure: Some liquid ammonia buffer tanks have an integral airbag inside. During operation, water only enters the airbag and does not come into contact with the shell, which can avoid rust problems caused by welding processes. The airbag can also be replaced.
Working principle
The liquid ammonia buffer tank utilizes the compressibility of gas or the isolation effect of diaphragm to regulate and buffer the pressure and flow rate of liquid ammonia. When the flow rate or pressure of liquid ammonia fluctuates, the buffer tank can absorb or release some of the liquid ammonia, allowing downstream equipment to stably receive liquid ammonia, stabilizing system pressure, reducing flow fluctuations, and eliminating water hammer phenomena.

Stable pressure: prevent severe pressure fluctuations during the supply of liquid ammonia, protect subsequent equipment from pressure shocks, and extend equipment service life.
Adjusting flow rate: During the production, transportation, and use of liquid ammonia, a buffer tank can store a certain amount of liquid ammonia to regulate the flow rate and match the supply and demand of liquid ammonia.
Emergency Reserve: In the event of a supply interruption or sudden increase in demand for liquid ammonia, the liquid ammonia stored in the buffer tank can be used as an emergency reserve to provide a certain amount of buffer time for subsequent equipment.
Safety device
Pressure monitoring device: Install pressure gauges, pressure transmitters, etc. to monitor the pressure inside the buffer tank in real time. When the pressure exceeds the set value, an alarm signal will be issued to remind the operator to take measures.
Liquid level monitoring device: Install liquid level gauges, such as magnetic flap level gauges, radar level gauges, etc., to monitor the liquid level height of liquid ammonia and prevent safety accidents caused by high or low liquid levels.
Emergency cut-off device: interlocked with the ammonia leak alarm, it automatically cuts off the inlet and outlet valves of liquid ammonia when ammonia leak is detected, preventing further leakage of liquid ammonia.

Chemical industry: In the production process of synthetic ammonia, urea, nitric acid and other chemical products, liquid ammonia buffer tanks are used to store and regulate the supply of liquid ammonia, ensuring the continuity and stability of production.
Refrigeration industry: As a commonly used refrigerant, liquid ammonia buffer tanks play a role in storing and buffering liquid ammonia in refrigeration systems, ensuring the normal operation of the refrigeration system.
