Methanol, as one of the main products and a very important alternative energy source in the coal chemical industry, plays a very important role in the global chemical market today. In industrial production, the typical process of methanol gas-phase synthesis is generally composed of processes such as raw gas manufacturing, raw gas evolution, methanol synthesis, and crude methanol distillation. The main purpose of methanol distillation is to remove gases and low boiling point impurities, water, and high boiling point impurities dissolved in crude methanol, in order to obtain high-purity and qualified methanol products, as well as by-products: iso (impurities).
Although the distillation process may vary due to differences in the synthesis methods of crude methanol, the basic methods are consistent and can be summarized as follows: first, remove the light components (impurities with lower boiling points than methanol), and the method is distillation, with impurities being extracted from the top of the distillation tower; Then remove water and other heavy components (impurities with higher boiling points than methanol), using the same method as distillation, with the impurities being extracted from the bottom of the distillation tower.
The process of methanol distillation has been continuously developed, forming various process flows from single tower distillation, double tower distillation, to three tower and four tower distillation based on different product quality.
